The week's readings.

All of this week we talked about intersexuality, when men are trapped in womens bodies and vice versa, and all that other good stuff where people don't feel comfortable with who they are or if they feel wrong with their situation. many of the intersexed children that are born with both genitalia have to be made into one gender or another, when we don't really know what gender is; so it's kind of confusing about what they're getting turned into. in my opinion, there shouldn't be such things as men and women and any differentiation in between, we are all people. a unified world where people can wear whatever they want and where there aren't classifications that people have to fit into. intersexed babies should be left to find out what their life will turn into. without the need to conform to needs of society, all the cosmetic surgery would be considered nullified. people in general would feel more included and less self concious about themselves, probably raising the self esteem level around the world, and also lowering depression and suicides. i don't know the exact numbers, but i'm sure there are deaths out there because people don't feel like they're wanted for their looks. even if there's only 1 person out there that it's happened to, that's 1 person too many. the fact is that our society and many societies around the world judge people on looks. if someone is intersexed they are scorned for not being "normal". who defines normal? if there are 132 million people born intersexed every year, that's a pretty big percentage, who says that these people aren't normal? if there's so many of them then maybe they're the one's that should be making the rules. eventually we are going to be such a mixed up society, gender and race wise, that we won't be able to differenciate. more and more mixed people are having children with other mixed people, becoming a blender of amazing color. there will be no way to judge someone by their skin because in 500 years our skin will be green with how many different gene mixes we have. the same goes for intersexed people. what happens when, in 7 generations, we start growing fins or something in order to help us adapt to the global warming climate that we're inflicting on ourselves. will these people be scorned because they're different, too? maybe intersexuals are the next step to our evolution. who knows? we don't give them a chance. if we ever would let people be people we would be able to accomplish 700 times more than we do already. we might even be able to use the other 90% of our brain that we don't use right now. the fact is that we're so worried to fit in and be normal we're not able to be ourselves which inhibits us from finding out our true potential as human beings. it's sad, and if we can ever understand that we're all different, judging from our fingerprints, we could succeed. until then we're trapped in a disillusioned society.
